RT Infrastructure Solutions (RT-IS) has been awarded a contract to deliver signalling works at Transport for Wales’s (TfW) Canton Depot, working on behalf of FirstClass Safety and Control Ltd.
FirstClass Safety and Control Ltd has been commissioned to design, manufacture and install a Depot Protection System (DPS) along with Points Control, Driver Destination Boards, Driver location information boards using the FirstClass Depot Control System (DCS) combined to provide a Depot Protection Control System (DPCS) at the Canton Depot, located on the outskirts of Cardiff city centre.
RT-IS will be supporting FirstClass Safety and Control Ltd during the project by providing all signalling elements to support the DPS. In addition to the signalling works, RTIS will also be undertaking some E&P works with the whole project consisting of the following deliverables:
*Full Signalling Project Management
*Full E&P Project Management
**Production of Master Test & Commissioning Plan, Test & Commissioning Plan, Pre & Post Testing Documentation, Work Packages Plans, Electrical Inspection and Test Plans
*Signalling & Power Surveys
*E&P Design
*Procurement and prefabrication/fit out of 1 x REB
*Procurement and Installation of 11 ends of RCPL equipment
*Running and termination of all lineside signalling and power cables
*Pre-Testing of all signalling and power equipment
*Test & Commissioning of all signalling equipment to NR/L2/SIG/30014 standard
*Test & Commissioning of all new power equipment to BS7671 standard
Canton depot is being enhanced and upgraded to accommodate a fleet of 35 Stadler FLIRT DMUs. Eleven of the trains will be diesel powered and operate on South Wales Metro services, with the remaining 24 tri-mode diesel/electric/battery units.
