The continued development of our engineers is in line with our business model of creating, developing & growing our own employed workforce. Best practice means that we strongly believe that this can only be achieved through a combination of strong in-house technical training, worksite experience and a structured mentorship process.

We have continued to develop our signalling workforce, and this has been supported through safety-critical training, technical training and the continuation of many gains with attaining further IRSE licenses. Since the turn of 2026, we have registered over 345 technical training hours, with our staff trained in the following technical courses:

Level Crossing Barrier Machine BR843 Appreciation; Andrew Pegg, Euan Webster, Naisa Misimisi, James Baxter, Ryan Corrigan, Mesake Delana

Aster Tracks Circuits – Aaron Wilson, Steve Howard, Phil Prior, Carl Evans, Naisa Misimisi

Clamplocks and IBCL – Phil Prior, Carleen Frost, Aaron Wilson, Carl Evans, Ryan Corrigan.

Automatic Half Barriers – Tim Dotchin, Lee Barton, Carleen Frost, Naisa Misimisi

Signalling Plant and Small Tools – Lee Barton, Phil Prior, Jodi Williams, Ryan Corrigan

Upskilling SMTH pre-assessments – Naomi Hoggard Marsh, Aaron Wilson, Naisa Misimisi, Mesa Delana, Soko Tuipolotu.

HVI Track Circuits – Lee Barton

IRSE licenses – Lee Barton WPA for 1.4.230 and Hamido Sharif WPA for 1.2.220.

Our staff progression for IRSE licensing continues to thrive, with a suitable balance being provided for continued technical training and site workplace experience. Workplace experience has been gained for our staff working within specifically designated RTIS signalling teams, ensuring that the mentorship process is correctly implemented and coordinated. We have seen successful outcomes for our newer employees, ensuring that we develop engineers with an excellent all-around signalling trackside knowledge, as opposed to just classroom-based training.
