After a competitive tendering process, RT Infrastructure Solutions is delighted to announce another successful project win for key signalling works at Tenby Station on behalf of AMCOGiffen.

The works at Tenby will fall under the Access for All (AfA) Scheme, which is part of Network Rail’s programme launched in 2006 to address the issues faced by disabled passengers and passengers facing mobility restraints when using railway stations in England, Scotland and Wales. With Tenby Station, there is currently no unobstructed and obstacle-free accessible route between platforms 1 and 2, with access between the platforms currently via a barrow crossing, which does not offer a suitable step-free access.

With the Tenby Station Afa Scheme commencing in October 2025, the works will include a wide range of different tasks within the enabling and main stages such as: a new DNO installation, new UTX installation, signalling Token Hut relocation, staging works for Telecoms assets crossing structure, Scaffold service bridge & footbridge installation, signalling diversions, removal of the existing footbridge, ducting and containment installation, cofferdam installation, foundation installation, a new footbridge (700 series) with lift access to both platform 1 and 2, renewal/upgrade of Platform lighting and CCTV system, and the introduction of new emergency refuge areas.

The scope of RTIS works requires numerous signalling and telecoms activities that will be delivered over 2 stages. The initial enabling stage will see a series of multi-core cables procured, run into position, prepped and then changed over under the SMTH process. These cables will then be placed into a temporary position whilst the main AfA works are completed. The second stage of the works will require further new cabling to be installed, modifications undertaken in REBs and Location Cases, the transfer of Token Block equipment into a new Token Hut and various 4ft signalling installation works.

As well as being responsible for the signalling installation, and testing and commissioning of all activities to support the AfA scheme, RTIS will also provide Signalling Engineering Management Support and Signalling CRE duties. RTIS will procure all associated signalling materials, including the provision of a new Token Hut and its internal components. The main Test & Commissioning Stage of the works, currently planned over a 54-hour possession, is programmed to take place in March 2026. As part of the works, the following standards will be adhered to, with the RTIS management team ensuring compliance at all times;

Discussing the contract award, RT-IS Managing Director Andy Thorpe said:
