As part of the East Anglia franchise, Abellio Greater Anglia (GA) Ltd are committed to deliver a complete renewal of the passenger rail stock.

Two new fleets totalling 1,043 carriages (169 trains) are targeted to be introduced to the franchise whilst phasing out the old rolling stock.

GA are introducing the new trains into operational use in line with the Access for All (AfA) Programme (Trains) legislation regarding Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM) and Technical Specification for Interoperability (TSI) Standard. GA’s New East Anglia Trains (NEAT) Programme represents the largest fleet introduction programme in the UK franchise history. The Aventra fleet are being built by Bombardier in Derby (665 carriages / 111 trains) and the Stadler Flirt fleet are being built by Stadler in Switzerland (378 carriages / 58 trains). Every single carriage/train currently running on the Greater Anglia network today will be replaced with brand new carriages/trains.

Through a competitive tender process Keltbray were successfully awarded all the platform extension upgrade works at St Margrets, Hertford and Ware Stations. As Keltbray’s collaborative partner, RT Infrastructure Solutions were selected to deliver all the associated signalling and telecoms works associated with the 3 stations, with responsibility of managing the complete construction through to test and commissioning phases. All the signalling and telecoms works will be undertaken either during planned midweek possessions, or within a single blockade planned in August 2022. Throughout the works RTIS signalling engineers will also provide input into MSRP and IDC meetings with the relevant design teams and provide Signalling CRE support when required.
