As part of Network Rail’s North Wales Coast Signalling Life Extension Works and following on from RTIS’s professional and well praised delivery of the Anglesey Signal Head project scheme, RT Infrastructure Solutions were once again selected by AMCOGiffen as their signalling delivery partner.

The package of a further 22 signal head renewals, was awarded to RTIS after a competitive tendering process with all signalling management, signalling installation, prep-testing and test & commissioning deliverables included within scope once again. The overall works for AMCOGiffen included other life extension works such as improvements to platforms, retaining walls, walkways and the signal structures.

In addition to the signal heads being fitted and terminated, RTIS worked from AFC signalling design to undertake various modifications in existing location cases such as; fitting new lamp proving relays, power off indication relays and general re-wiring. All installation work was completed to Network Rail standard NR/L3/SIG/11303 and was checked by RTIS signalling supervisors with the relevant hand over certificates passed over to qualified SWTH test teams. Prior to commissioning, all signalling circuits were subject to an altered circuit pre-check and new cables were tested. During the Tester-In-Charge led changeover of equipment, all affected contacts and circuits were strap and function tested and all affected line circuits were through tested. The risk of Phantom Aspects was also considered, particularly those that faced East at sunrise and those facing West at sunset and especially those that fell on gradients. RTIS successfully installed and commissioned all new signals to the agreed client budget with zero accidents/incidents reported throughout the duration of the works.
