RTIS were selected by FCCS to deliver all of the signalling works associated with this depot upgrade, with a key element being a joint design solution allowing the new signalling equipment to work in tandem with FCCS PLC software.

RTIS worked with First Class Control Systems to improve the overall depot safety systems within Canton Depot which was being elevated and improved to accommodate a fleet of 35 Stadler FLIRT DMUs.

RTIS were selected by FCCS to deliver all of the signalling works associated with this depot upgrade, with a key element being a joint design solution allowing the new signalling equipment to work in tandem with FCCS PLC software.

Onsite work included the removal and recovery of existing manually propelled hand points inside TFW’s train care depot and replacing the old equipment with new SPX RCPL points equipment. The new clamp lock points are able to confirm detection at either position (normal & reverse) to the shunter at the control panel, reducing the need for depot staff to continually hand pump each set of points. The RCPL power packs are also equipped with a manual override that can allow the TFW staff to pump the hydraulic points into the required position if ever a fault was to incur.

All signalling works were completed to NWR Signalling Installation handbook standards NR/L3/SIG/11303 with all FAT testing, prep-testing and Test & Commmissioning deliverables following the NWR Signalling Test & Commissioning standard NR/L2/SIG/30014. In addition to the signalling work scope RTIS also undertook E&P works which were installed and tested in line with the BS7671 standard.
