As part of a £61 Million pound scheme to build 3 new stations on the Camp Hill Line to South Birmingham, RTIS were engaged by VolkerFitzpatick to deliver all the required signalling and power upgrade works on this major scheme.

The 3 original stations in this area closed in 1941, however with subsequent increase in local population since, this has resulted in traffic congestion and extended travel durations.

The project will provide swifter and more dependable transportation for residents and workers in the vicinity, with the potential to replace up to 25% of car trips diminishing traffic congestion and pollution.

The overall aim of this project is the construction of the 3 new stations at Pineapple Road, Kings Health and Moseley Village with each new station area requiring significant signalling and E&P modifications alongside the main civils activities.

As VolkerFitzpatrick’s selected partner for this project, RTIS undertook the signalling and power installation works with in-house teams with RTIS supervisory teams and overall Engineering Management ensuring quality standards were met at all times.

The RTIS Tester-in-Charge and Principles Tester appointed to the project had sole responsibility of controlling all works that fell within the NR/L2/SIG/30014 standard, along with issuing the final Entry Into Service documentation. Any power deliverables were checked and approved in accordance with electrical standard BS7671.
