As part of a competitive tendering process for the Tenby AfA Scheme, RT Infrastructure Solutions were selected as the signalling provider of choice to AMCOGiffen.
In addition to providing signalling support to all onsite civils activities, RTIS's main scope of work was the integration of a token block system.
This was to be relocated into a new Token Hut, and then interfaced with a new Digiblock Token Machine. This was a complex and highly collaborative signalling scheme that demanded detailed planning and precise execution, with the main signalling works being undertaken during a planned blockade to ensure adequate time for the prep-testing and test/commissioning activities to undergo stringent verification and functionality checks.
As part of the signaling works there was a requirement to divert various operational signalling cables, running on both the redundant platform face, redundant platform area and in the trough route. Due to the minimal slack on the cables, the cables were renewed and diverted on a like for like basis, and then tested and commissioned into service under the SMTH testing process.
As much of the signalling work as possible was conducted before the blockade, with all installation works being undertaken and completed to NR-SIG-L2-11303 standard. A testament to the team’s commitment and expertise was the delivery of the works to budget and ensuring alignment with our client’s programme requirements, with all works being completed with zero reported accidents or RIDDORS. RTIS were commended by both AMCOGiffen and Network Rail for a faultless delivery of all their signalling deliverables.
