In September 2012 RT Infrastructure Solutions Ltd was asked to provide a skilled onsite signalling project team capable of supporting Network Rail’s major planned improvement works between Alexander Palace and Finsbury Park.

The F2A scheme was centred on improving the bottleneck between Alexander Palace and Finsbury Park, with the bulk of the works being around the reinstatement and extension of a disused East platform at Finsbury Park station.

Major works also included the extension to current platforms 3 & 5 to accommodate longer 12 carriage trains.

The core project delivery team itself was a joint alliance between Network Rail and Balfour Beatty, with RTIS providing the supporting & planning aspects of signalling interface to the project. In addition to providing the management and skilled technical support, RTIS also covered site specific requirements for both midweek and weekend signalling demands. To date a multitude of various signalling work has been undertaken including SMTH disconnections & reconnections of signalling equipment, signalling surveys, points machine installation & new installation of signalling equipment. Works are in place at the moment to continue towards the culmination of the project in April 2014.

The RTIS project team received numerous letters and commendations for their work ethic and excellence over the duration of the project. In February 2013 the team were awarded a prestigious F2A Alliance recognition award for outstanding services to the project.
