IRSE success for RT Infrastructure Solutions

Diagram Reading CourseThroughout February and March 2014  we have once again made large strides in the growth and development of our directly employed signalling workforce. To create this growth we have utilised the services of our sister company RT Training Solutions, where we have invested heavily in technical, IRSE and safety training courses for our employees. By the end of March we expect to have progressed a further 11 signalling engineers into key IRSE Signalling Team Leader or IRSE Signalling Installer roles, that will increase our capacity to supply to customers such as Signalling Solutions, Atkins, Carillion, BAM Nuttall, Balfour Beatty and Babcock Rail.

This staff progression forms part of our long term plan to keep up with Network Rail’s CP5 spending forecast during 2014 – 2019. Network Rail’s CP5 investment plan shows a spending plan of around £33 Billion which brings home the need for more skilled resources within the rail industry. Skills shortages in the rail sector are expected to cross various disciplines, with railway signalling designers, signalling engineers forming a large part of this shortage.

Simon Jamieson RTIS CEO said “ Once again I am extremely pleased to see the successful outcome of this investment which has enabled our trainers to help the individuals involved realise their own potential within this industry, whilst contributing to the growth of our company required to meet a growing demand. We are successfully achieving a steady upward curve in the number of skilled signalling engineers within our company, through both the recruitment of new employees to the rail industry and the development of our current workforce. We will continue to train and develop our people, and this recent success is a testament to the ethos and values that our company has adopted.”
