RTIS reach "150" milestone

Farnham Re-Signalling

In February 2015 we were delighted to achieve a significant milestone for our business by having worked on a total number of "150" railway signalling projects since our inception in 2012. The projects have included a diverse range of disciplines that have included supporting various first tier signalling companies with major re-signalling schemes & track renewals works, delivering our own signalling projects & maintenance works, signalling Project Management and the provision of signalling CRE expertise.

The achievement has been made through the joint efforts of our head office team and direct signalling workforce. We have placed a strong emphasis on delivering works aligned to our company values. We continue to work for a multitude of different customers and through a combination of lump sum projects and significant labour frameworks, we hope to reach the 200 project milestone by 2016!

RTIS complete signalling works at Huncoat

RTIS have recently finished supporting BAM Nuttall with various signalling installation works associated with their East Lancashire Level Crossing Scheme (ELLC). The 3rd and last phase of the project, was centered around the level crossing at Huncoat, situated close to Burnley. This required various changes to the existing signalling system, the installation of a new obstacle detector system and other signalling control equipment.

The works at Huncoat included the installation of a new TDM system and an obstacle detector (RADAR/LIDAR) system on the level crossing itself. Other re-signalling works included relay room re-wiring, the installation and termination of wiring in a new REB, modifications to location cases, wiring changes in Preston Signal Box, installation of treadles and new Lightweight LED signals. The level crossing itself required the installation and termination of all booms & pedestals, RTL’s and yodel alarms which were installed to Network Rail specification.

As the Principal Contractor of the main project itself, BAM Nuttall was asked to deliver an upgrade and modernisation to 3 level crossings in the East Lancashire Area along with various civils works. The first phase of the ELLC works began at Low Moor Level Crossing in September 2013, with Huncoat being the final phase which was commissioned in December 2014.

Throughout all stages of the ELLC scheme, RT Infrastructure Solutions signalling staff were highly commended for their commitment, professionalism and high level of workmanship.
